Company Background
As one of America's oldest china companies, Syracuse China traces its origins back to 1841 when W.H. Farrar started a small pottery business in New York. The company evolved over the following decades, becoming the Onondaga Pottery Company in 1871. Under new leadership, Onondaga Pottery developed innovative china techniques and designs that made it an industry leader, producing fine wares for hotels, restaurants, and railroads. The company officially became Syracuse China in 1966.
