Signed limited first edition (number 44 of 1000 printed), hardcover copy of Colorado’s Little Kingdom by Donald C. Kemp (Sage Books, 1949). Flat signed by author and with limited edition stamp on reverse side of half title page. Rare vintage book telling the story of early settlers in Gilpin County, the gold rush, and the establishment of Central City. Richly illustrated, with photographs and a few fold-out maps.
Jacket now protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with moderate wear, especially around the edges which are very brittle and have chipping, creasing and small tears. Larger tear to bottom right corner of back cover, with tape adhered to interior side. Boards are straight and clean but with corners bumped. Binding is faintly split in a few gutters though spine is straight and binding remains strong on the whole. Tanning pages that are otherwise clean and unmarked. See photos for condition.
